Choosing the land you will build upon is one of the first concrete steps toward realizing your dream of a new home. Any property can reveal a great deal about what is possible, and what work is needed, to build in harmony with your surroundings. There are limitations and opportunities inherent in any piece of land, and one of the advantages of bringing in a designer in this early stage of the project is the ability to take into consideration any factors that will affect your new home's livability. How does the sun move across the property during the course of the day? From which direction does the wind tend to move across the land? How do the contours of the land affect the approach and access to your new home? How will the changing seasons affect your life on the site?
I enjoy walking the land with clients to see how well the landscape meshes with their vision for the future of their property. Armed with a knowledge of your vision, needs and goals, I can apply my expertise to help determine if a given lot can yield the end result you desire.
Architectural Design Services: New Homes, Renovations and Additions
Whether you're building a new home, renovating, or adding to an existing structure, you need a partner who can help you describe, in detail, your vision. Before the "pen to paper" (or "hands to keyboard") phase can begin, it's essential that you and your architect have a solid understanding of your current and future living needs and design goals. I've learned from experience how to help you articulate what you want and need in a home, and I've developed an extensive questionnaire process that helps me to achieve this important baseline.
Once we've agreed on the parameters, the design process can begin, with floor plans, drawings, etc., designed to provide you with a clear picture of the end result, from a variety of perspectives. I use a mix of traditional pen and paper and technology to help you visualize your project.
I make every attempt to utilize green building materials and techniques, and to integrate new construction smoothly with existing structures.
