The earth, our home, is in danger.  The earth and all the life upon it are threatened by the carbon we are emitting into the atmosphere.  The potential consequences are serious in our lifetime, catastrophic in our children’s and grandchildren’s.  We must act.

For those of us creating in the world of construction – in our personal lives, in our professional lives – this time of danger is also a time of opportunity, a time when we can make a contribution to repairing the damage.  Forty-eight per cent of the carbon that we are putting into the atmosphere comes from the construction, maintenance, and operation of our buildings.

Every decision we make

what we choose to create, how we choose to build it, how we decide to live with it

can play a part in healing the earth.

At A. Ginsburg Architects we are committed to helping our clients make choices that both help in the healing process and reflect their dreams and needs.

“Green” building is not just a matter of using alternative energy, like photovoltaic cells and geothermal wells.  It begins with careful placement of a building on the land and moves on through smart design that minimizes waste; use of materials, often recycled, preferably local, with minimal environmental impact; selection of the most efficient mechanical systems; designing for minimal maintenance and operating costs; building with local workers and craftspeople; and carefully considering our clients’ future needs to insure that the building will adapt gracefully, and efficiently, to changing needs in the future.

This is our commitment to you, and to the world we share.
